Types of Membrane Fouling

Adsorption Fouling

Organics adsorb onto the membrane surface. Contaminants build up within membrane pores, shrinking pore size and raising membrane resistance. This fouling is difficult to remove. Main contaminants are dissolved substances and emulsions.

Scaling Fouling

Salts in raw water exceed solubility and precipitate as scale on membranes. Contaminants include colloids and particles: organics like fats, proteins and humic acid; inorganics such as calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus salts.

Biofouling

Microbes accumulate at the membrane-water interface in two phases: adhesion and growth. If biocide dosage is insufficient, attached microbes feed on nutrients and multiply to form biofilms, mainly bacteria and algae.

Warranty Period

The company warrants the performance of membrane elements for three 3 years. The three-year warranty period shall commence on the earliest of the following dates:

  • The date when the reverse osmosis system is put into operation;
  • Six 6 months from the date the membrane elements are shipped from the manufacturing site;
  • Three 3 months after the membrane elements are shipped from Guangzhou / Shanghai, China to Taiwan of China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, India, Malaysia, the United States and other designated locations in China.
